Sony MRW-G2 Card Reader won't recognize CF Express A card.

My Sony MRW-G2 card reader shows up on the system report under USB, but it will not mount or show up in disk utility when using a CF Express Type A card. If I put an SD card in, it mounts and works properly. It also works on older macs. What's up with this reader not working on a brand new M1 Pro Max 16 inch laptop ??? I've read the suggested articles which talk about SD cards. But I don't have a problem with SD cards. Please help.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.0

Hello there LightShaper,

Thanks for posting here on the Apple Support Communities! This is a place where other Apple users can submit questions or respond to others to help lend a hand. Let's take a closer look as we do our best to provide some additional insight.

We understand certain kinds of cards aren't working with your card reader. To get started, have you already checked with Sony to ensure full compatibility with Apple Silicon based computers, or to see if they have any driver updates available?

Also, do you know what format the cards are in? File system formats available in Disk Utility on Mac

Do you have a way to test with another card reader to see if the same thing happens with these specific kinds of cards?

We hope this helps get you pointed in the right direction.

Take care.
