My MAC (Find My enabled) got stolen, should I change my Icloud password?

My MAC (with Find My enabled) got stolen. Should I change my Icloud password? I fear that if I changed the password then my MAC will be logged out of my icloud and thus the Find My app will not be able to track its location or lock it. Please tell me I am wrong and I can change the password
