How do I stop the URL image that pops up with all kinds of codes every time my curser hovers over a picture in outlook? It does this on Windows computer too

Every time I read emails on Microsoft Outlook (hotmail), when my curser hovers over an image, there is a large dark popup with white letters that covers the image. It has a URL link and then a bunch of letters and digits (code). This happens on my windows desktop and my MacBook. It doesn't happen on my iPhone or iPad or android phone. I cannot find anywhere in Outlook for a settings cog to change it and when I go through all the options of any kind of setting in Outlook, there is no option to turn off image URL popup.

New Outlook which may be enabled on either platform is supposed to simulate the web interface to a greater degree. If New Outlook is on the upper right as on, you may want to turn it off to see if the annoying popups go away.

Brody,

Thanks for the information. I went to all the areas you mentioned above and there were no flags or areas where I could change to not show the URL image popup on the MacBook. When I open Outlook independently on my Macbook by itself, the URL image popup isn't there on either New or Old version. It still is there when I open the Mail app on my home screen the opens all of my email servers (yahoo, AOL, GMAIL, & Hotmail). So it must be a fault inside that app. I think that app was on the MacBook when it came, but not sure. I had to enter my 4 email addresses and passwords for it. Whenever I open that app, it gives me a chance to go to all my email addresses without changing to different apps for each one.

The fact it happens on Windows and the MacBook says this is part of the Outlook interface itself.

On the Mac, Outlook menu has a Preferences option to look at. Look under AutoCorrect, Fonts, Spelling and Grammar, and reading for any flags that are set.

On Windows the File tab lets you adjust options and preferences within Windows.

Each platform is independent how it manages the interface.
