Erase iPhone

My phone was driven over and crushed. Before sending back to insurance co I have to erase it. Went to iCloud.com chose the phone to erase. Now it says the phone will erase once it’s connected to internet. Of course it can’t connect so how else can I erase this!! Otherwise I have to pay a 500 fee. Thank you
