My iPad is low on space and can't download software updates. I only use it for web browsing and email. How can I free up space by getting rid of the photos and messages from the iPad without them disappearing from my iPhone and other devices? I've turned it off before and they keep re-appearing.

Turn off iCloud photos on your iPad. (Settings > Photos). You can then safely delete pictures on your IPad.
Turn off messages in iCloud on the same device (Settings > Apple ID > iCloud).
And, be sure you disable messages forwarding from your phone (Settings > Messages).
If the iPad is not listed in message forwarding, then messages are not being forwarded to the iPad. Only the devices listed receive forwarded messages.

Thanks. I still want the texts to sync between my phone and MacBook, just not the iPad. I don't see a way to disable messages from going to my iPad only. Any advice?
