Itunes doesn't recognize ipod classic

Itunes doesn't recognize my ipod classic when plugged into my pc lap top. The lap top recognizes the device just itunes doesn't. I've tried resetting the ipod, changing it to act as a disk drive... nothing has worked.

Try iOS device not showing in iTunes for Windows - Apple Community. Despite the title the same steps may help.
