How to run the PHOTOS RENAMER in Catalina

When I converted from iPhoto to Photos I was distressed about the fact I did not have names under the thumbnail images. I found this thread (& script) that worked like a charm

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7159846?page=3

But now that I have converted my OS from High Sierra to Catalina, I get this error when I attempt to run the 'app':

“Batch Change File Name to Title wo Extension.app” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.

macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware.

How can I run this under Catalina (for Photos 5)? Thanks.

Not sure if this will work, but go to system settigns>security and privacy>general tab

If there is a message saying "app blocked"*, click the padlock, type in your account password and then click "run anyway"*

..* somthing like these messages - I'm doing my best at remembering what they said from last time I had this issue.

Ah... better still see here

The problem is, that the scripts posted by OT have been compiled as applications for easy access. But they have not been signed with a developer certificate. You could also download the original scripts and run them by pasting the source code into the Script Editor. This way you can see what the script is doing. The source code for all scripts is on this page: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250000226

One more thing - to run our old scripts on Catalina, you have to select the the photos in All Photos or a top level album, and not in a smart album. Otherwise you will get error messages on on Catalina. Not all code is working any longer as originally on the older system versions.

Thanks. This summary help a lot. I have notes all over the place from my original use of the script and didn't take the time to sort out what was current (or not). I was wondering how I had an 'app' and the threads were talking about a 'script'!

When I moved to Catalina (from High Sierra) I am encountering other odd things happening in PHOTOS with my converted libraries (most of which had begun in iPhoto long long ago and have undergone several 'conversions'). For example, some of my Smart Folders aren't working as the rules indicate they should. I appreciate the need for improvement but, as PHOTOS goes, I wish it was a tad less painful on the curve. Baby steps so as to not destroy decades of photo organizing.
