Mac keep taking control of my airpods

How do I ensure MANUAL control of what device uses my airpods and when. I don't need apple to 'help', i need to specifically control the tools i buy and not have the computer decide what is best for me. And I have already set the iphone to 'use last device' and it still happens. It is beyond annoying, and keeps me from being able to trust my devices. I can be on a business call on my phone, open up my mac to look something up and poof now my call isn't connected through my airpods, how can i trust this? Can you just put the setting back that lets ME control what connects and when? Why do you need to take this away?

Hi Joseph Dalton,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities! From our understanding, your AirPods automatically switch to your Mac when you power it on instead of staying paired to your iPhone, is that right?

You''ll need to change the Setting on your Mac as well. With your AirPods connected to your Mac you can go to System Preference > Bluetooth, select "Options" next to your AirPods. There you should see the option "Connect to This Mac", you'll want to change that to "When Last connected to the Mac".

This will allow your AirPods to connect only if the Mac was the last device connected so if you are using your AirPods with your iPhone they will not switch unless you switch them.

Check out the section titled "Turn off automatic switching" in this article: Switch your AirPods to another device.

Hope that helps!
