iPhone Stolen

Hi there,

I had my phone stolen last weekend and not been able to track it since. However, both my parents have received this message with my name and not sure if It’s a location, scared to click on it. Wondered if this was a scam? I presume it is? But just wanted confirmation. The number came through as 8855, so just confused.

It is definitely a scam. Apple does not directly participate in the recovery of lost or stolen iPhones. They only provide the Find My service to help you in trying to locate it.

Find My needed to be enabled before the phone was stolen to take advantage of it.

It may be possible that your Apple ID has been compromised. As such, I strongly suggest that you do the following things as soon as possible:

  1. Change your Apple ID password.
  2. Contact your local law enforcement and report the phone as stolen.
  3. Contact your cellular provider to report the phone as stolen as well. They will "blacklist" the phone so that it cannot be used on any cellular network.
