CD to iMac transfer

Hardware:

external Majority Scholars DVD/CD player with 2 audio & an HDMI out port

IMac (Retina 5K 2017) mac OS Monterey 12.1

Question:

What is the best way to rip old CDs and transfer music files to iMac?

The iMac doesn't have RCA ports. Can I use an RCA to USB or HDMI to USB cable to make connection???

What is best software to use if one of these options is possible?

Or, do I have to purchase the Apple external DVD/CD drive?

You should be able to use any usb optical drive the driver is generic as in one size fit all from macOS to windows Linux and the works

if you use a rca to minijack cable to record it as audio quality will suffer but you can should you so choose

Have you tried siphoning tracks from the CD to Apple Music? See the Get Music from other sources section in the Apple Music Users Guide for Mac.

I'm asking about going from RCA out (or HDMI out if possible) from an external DVD drive to an input (USB) on the iMac. The mini-jack on the iMac is an output for a speaker, isn't it?
