Did you check the sound shown on the video. It usually starts with an X on it, in the video and needs to be clicked on.

Yes, I tried to sign in using the app. Just now did it via Safari and sound was fine.
So what’s it with the app?
Maybe delete the YouTube app. Next in Apple Store re-install the YouTube app. When I have a troublesome app I do this.
