Purchased on previous owner's App Store account

I purchased Final Cut Pro X 10.4.2 with my used computer, so it was purchased on someone else's AppStore account. I must to move on from Catalina to Big Sur or Monterey for next year's TurboTax to work, but I know that this $299 32-bit program that I use almost daily will no longer work. Am I out the $299?
