Moving iTunes Library from PC to Mac with no duplicates/reset whole music library

I just got a personal Macbook after using a PC for many years and want to use it as my main machine.

A problem I've ran into its apple music and transferring the actual music files for my music library for the machine to play as opposed to streaming from Apple music. There's no option to link the songs to files (location says cloud) and if I Import or drag and drop the songs, it creates a duplicate in Apple music so then I have, for example "Song 2 - location - Cloud" and "Song 2 - Location - SSD".

What's the best and most efficient way to to get apple music /itunes to locate and play from the files from the storage drive without having to delete my whole music library and start all over again?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey there Answer_Seeker2022,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. We understand you need help with moving your music library from your Windows PC to your Mac, and we'd be happy to look into the best steps.

To get started, if you subscribe to Apple Music, you can use Sync Library to sync your music from your PC to your Mac. You can find the steps on how to do that at this link here: Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music - Apple Support

Afterwards, if you want to download the songs to your Mac storage so you can play songs while offline, check out this next resource here: Add and download music on Mac - Apple Support

We hope that's able to help.

Take care!

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately, I don't want to download the songs as I already have them on my SSD,

I just want to be able to link the songs in apple music to the files in the my SSD without downloading them, and going through my library, deleting all the one I have the files for an then re: import them as this would be long process and some songs apple music matches with the wrong version occasionally.

so in short;

I already have the music

apple music displays all my music from the pc (where they were initially imported)

I now have a mac and want itunes/apple music to basically work the same as on my pc, playing the files from it's SSD without having to download them

Ideally a good UX would be for apple music to scan your files and match with the ones you have the files for, is something like this available?
