adapting from EU plug to US plug for trip on new MacBook Air

I have EU plug (30W) on my new MacBook Air. Going to the US. Can I use my old US plug (61W) on it from my non-functioning MacBook Pro? And / Or can I use a Travel Plug adapter in the US? Buying a US (Apple) one would be $49 I'd prefer not to spend.
