If you have an active AppleCare+ plan with Apple, being an insurance product, the cost of screen replacement will be a small excess/deductible fee. Otherwise, an out-of-warranty screen repair is typically c.60% of the “as new” cost of the iPad.
Apple doesn’t actually replace the iPad screen - but instead will usually offer a permanent exchange for a reconditioned iPad of the same model and specification.
