Every time a new backup happens, it creates a new file like this.
I recently used a new hard drive to start time machine backups from scratch (the old hard drive crashed), and now I see all these different backups.
Is this normal? What the heck is happening? lol
OS is macOS Monterey.

That is normal that is the backup performed that time. They are not complete backups.
Any idea why this changed? I've been using Time Machine for the better part of a decade, and it used to always put the backups in a single folder, as opposed to creating multiple instances.
It has to do with the new systems, beginning I believe with Big Sur but not positive. From what system did you upgrade to Monterey from?
