How to get iPhone dictation to use an alternate spelling of a word My wife's name is Amie, but dictation usually replaces with Amy and the changes it to Aimee. I have made custom text replacements, but it will not let go of the wrong version.

How to get iPhone dictation to use an alternate spelling of a word? My wife's name is Amie, but dictation usually replaces with Amy and then changes it to Aimee. I have made custom text replacements, but it will not let go of the wrong version, ever. In fact, despite these custom options, it never even offers 'Amie' as a replacement option.

Hi, JayAllen07, and thanks for reaching out. We see you're having an issue where dictation isn't using the correct spelling for your wife's name. We'll be glad to assist.

If this is the name of someone in your contacts, you can add the correct spelling to their contact card by opening the contact card, tapping edit in the upper right. Then, go down to the bottom of the screen and tap "Add field". Select "Phonetic first name" (or last) and type the correct spelling of the name again. See if that helps.

A bit more information on Contacts can be found here: Add and use contact information on iPhone

Otherwise, if you have other contacts with the same phonetic pronunciation, it may be possible that Siri will still use other spellings of the name.

Cheers!
