How do I retrieve photos, contacts and information I had stored in I-cloud

You can use any internet browser and log into www.icloud.com for any information that was synced with iCloud. Also, if you turn on iCloud Photos and/or other syncing options on in a replacement device or another device, that data will automatically sync with it. If you didn't have iCloud Photos or other syncing options turned on but do have an iCloud backup, you can restore the entire phone (not just the photos) from iCloud but you cannot otherwise view the contents of the backup. See: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support
