which is faster....ordering from apple or AT&T?

You saw the title...would it be faster for me to order it through the Apple Store or through AT&T on their website? Which ships faster? Any personal experience from people here? AT&T's site says it ships within 7-14 business days....Apple says 3 weeks. Hmm.

MB Pro (Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.5.6), iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 1G, iPod Nano 2G, iPod Shuffle 2G

See, I wanna buy the 32GB, but my local Apple store is only carrying 16GB. I thought there was a way to ship the 32GB straight to the store so I could pick it up, but apparently that isn't an option from what I'm seeing on the Apple store online....it's either ship to my house or go pick it up on my own. Was there not an option to ship it straight to the Apple store, then pick it up there?

Also, has anyone ordered within the last 1week? How long did Apple say they will take to ship?

From what I'm hearing from family members the way to go is with At&t. I ordered my iPhone 4 32GB on July 25 and it still says "Not yet shipped", so i regret ordering threw the Apple online store.

I ordered at my local AT&T store on July 2 and got my phone only a few days later. Meanwhile a friend ordered from Apple.com a week before I ordered mine and got his a week after I got mine! I originally wanted to get mine from Best Buy but they were not getting any iPhone 4s and couldn't tell me when they would get them. Sounds like AT&T has priority.

In my experience, neither. I called around to several Best Buy, Radio Shack, and Walmart stores for two days and was exquisitely nice on the phone to whomever picked up.

On Day #2, a young woman at a nearby Best Buy gave me the #'s of all the stores in her district that had phones in stock that day. I called in late morning, after shipments came in. To make a long story short, the BB rep on the phone told me they couldn't hold two for me but had 6 in stock. I think in the 20min it took me to get there, they had already sold 3...I got all but the last one, was very happy.

You might try your luck that way while you're waiting.

I ordered my phone through AT&T website (new customer) and I received my phone after 9 days. I did not expect it to be that quick because I was given the information that I should expect my phone to arrive after 3 weeks.

Others seemed to have better luck getting their phones quickly by going to a physical Apple Store in their area (call ahead first to check of stock) or at their Best Buy store (call to check for availability).

Since Apple and AT&T are both at the mercy of the factory in China that assembles the iPhone 4, I'd say neither one of them would deliver your phone faster.

AT&T is much faster. But.....

A friend order his from AT&T on July 9th, received his a few days later. I order mine also on July 9th, via Apple Store and received it on Aug. 3th a few weeks later. But....

The iphone purchase from AT&T has the antenna issue, but with a case corrects the problem. Mine, from Apple Store, as no antenna issue. I could put my finger on the black strip, or do the "death grip" and no problem.

So it all depends. I would purchase it from Apple Store, and wait until you receive it. At least it would be a newer device then what AT&T currently has on inventory.

I ordered from Apple as well 0724 and ship date is 0816. Maybe they actually have the inventory in stock but are keeping the shipping time at about 3 weeks just to maintain a balanced production or something. I don't understand why ATT would be shipping them out in less than a week when they are both getting product made from the same place.

16GB is veer popular model and it tends to stay on backorder longer than the 32GB. I order my 16GB on 7/25 and received it on 8/4 from AT&T.

I say, just wait a couple more days. If you ordered your phone through AT&T website, try calling their AT&T Consumer Sales East number (866 391 0749). I remember calling them and they were helpful, just make sure you are polite and calm. That way, you'll get more information out of the reps taking your call.

So far, I have no problems with my iPhone 4 that I received from AT&T (ie. No antenna problems even when I stick my tongue against the black strip LOL!)
