Changing from low use to more frequent user. How to change battery setting or see certain menu?

Hi, need help please.

I only realised that MacBook Pro learns to optimise battery lifetime via my usage frequency. I am now facing to wait 20hours for the battery to fully charge!!

My current state:

  1. Low usage i.e. one every other wk or longer.
  2. Charged my MacBook Pro once in a while when I remembered i.e. random intervals weekly or monthly, depends.
  3. My 'Battery' menu states (intermittently): 'Battery is not charging' despite being charged. I saw in google that this is due to low usage.

What's next:

  1. I am going be a more frequent user i.e. every other day (instead of every other week).
  2. I want to see 'Charge to Full Now' option on the Battery menu. I assume this will appear once I am a frequent user? If not, please can someone explain how I can do that?

Questions:

  1. Why is the battery falls when it is still plugged on power adapter? At this stage it has gone to 6%.
  2. Am I correct to assume once I am frequent user than the battery can charge quicker in time as the MacBook learns more? If not, what do I do next?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Hey sshahtiger,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We understand you have some questions and concerns about battery health management on your MacBook Pro. We'd like to assist as best as we can.

We have an article specific to what you're describing and it can be found at this link: About battery health management in Mac notebooks. We encourage you to read this article, especially the sections about 'How battery health management helps' and 'How to control the battery health management feature', as we feel those will help answer your questions in more detail. We've also quoted a section from within this article that may help more too,

"While battery health management benefits your battery's long-term lifespan, it can also reduce the amount of time your Mac runs on one battery charge when capacity limits are applied. If your priority is making your Mac notebook last as long as possible before recharging, you can turn the feature off."

If you turn the feature off, and the concerns remain about your battery, find additional support in this article: Get help with your Mac notebook battery

Best regards.
