Macbook Apple Pay not working

All of a sudden I can't get Apple Pay to work on my MacBook Air. I've used it with no problems and have no idea why it stopped working. I've searched for an answer but can't find anything to help me. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

(I tried to do a software update, thinking it might solve the problem. I updated to Catalina 10.15.7 and now trying to use Apple Pay I get a weird window that says "double click the Power button". Well, there is no power button on my MacBook.)

UPDATE: So I figured this out. For some reason, under Safari system preferences, under Privacy, "Allow Web Sites to Check for Apple Pay" was turned off. I have no idea why - up to now, I've used Apple Pay just fine and don't know how that got unchecked. So I turned that on.

The "double click the Power Button" was solved by upgrading to Monterey. It has a new feature now that requests you double click the Touch ID after it takes your fingerprint.

All works now. Just in case anyone else is having this issue.

Use Wallet & Apple Pay on Mac - Apple Support (IS)

Make purchases

  1. When checking out from an online store, click Apple Pay. If you have more than one card on file with Apple, you can choose which card to use. You can also enter a new shipping address and contact information.
  2. Place your finger on Touch ID to complete the purchase. If you haven’t set up Touch ID, you can tap the Pay button in the Touch Bar and enter your password. If your Mac doesn’t have a Touch Bar or you’re using a Mac with Apple silicon, you can double-tap Touch ID and enter your password.
