Timelapse failing to save

I first noticed on my iPhone 11.

I make daily timelapse videos of my art, and sporadically, the videos (that ARE RECORDING...i see the active spinning recording timer) just do not save.

i now have an iphone 13 pro

And it STILL HAPPENS.

i notice it happens a lot when i use the Timelapse multiple times in a row. The first one will save, but the second one doesnt.

lets get this out of the way:

yes, i absolutely have plenty of space for a 30 min painting which makes a roughly 15-30sec timelapse.

yes my phone is fully updated.

and like i said, it happened with my 11, AND 13 pro...

i have lost HUNDREDS of hours of my painting timelapses due to the camera app not saving it. And thats something i can NEVER get back.

is there ANY update on when this will be fixed? I assume its a bug with the camera app, and im not the only one based on old discussions on here.

Hello SomaXD,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you've taken some great steps to isolate this issue with time-lapse videos. We're happy to assist with this.

We recommend a normal iPhone restart before testing a new video. If needed, the article here can help:

Restart your iPhone

Should you use iCloud Photos, you can also check to see if the capture was saved there:

Set up and use iCloud Photos

If this concern continues after taking the steps above, our resolution is to contact Apple Support directly. Depending on your region, you may be able to reach them here:

We hope this information is useful. Kind regards.

I should restart my iphone after every single video i take?

i have, restarted, reset, reinstalled, upgraded, reformatted, deleted my entire library of photos/videos/apps... on 2 DIFFERENT iphones. And this issue is still occuring. The fact that its been occuring since AT LEAST the iphone 11, shows me no one is actually trying to fix this. How many iphone iterations and ios updates since the 11 and theres no solution still?

i do use icloud occasionally, however, the videos arent saved locally, they arent saved to the cloud, they just dont save, period. Sometimes they do and sometimes they dont... its a terrifying gamble, when, after a 3 hour painting, theres no guarantee that hitting the "stop recording" button will actually save any of my work.

I specifically got my 13 pro because of the fantastic video capabilities advertised. But the fact i cant trust the phone or camera app to work properly is infuriating.
