hello, my iwatch 2 was originally setup with my old apple id which I no longer use and I can't remember the password, how can I pair it up using my new apple id as it keeps asking for the old apple id setup details

You can ask apple to remove the activation lock online on this page;

Or this;
If you can't remember/gain access to the apple id that paired the watch to the phone.Take the watch and it's receipt along with some photo id and any other proof of ownership to an Apple Store and request that they remove the Activation Lock for you.

thank you for the help but i'm hitting a brick wall, the watch is in pair mode and asking to be pair to my iphone 13pro, the link you sent is asking for the watch'd serial no. which i cannot get as i cannot get to the settings tab so have you any more ideas please
