can't download my iPhone 5S to my MAC

I can't back-up my iPhone 5S to my Mac before transferring to iPhone 13Pro. This

was never an issue with iTunes?

How do I back my iPhone on a new computer? I cannot download iTunes anymore to my PC since Apple does not support it. I cannot find my backup and I have no idea where my earlier backup is nor how to backup my iPhone to my new computer? I cannot find a way to back up in icloud either. It just lets me backup pictures etc. but not the iPhone itself. Or am I missing something?

If you can't back up your iOS or iPadOS device to a computer or restore it from a backup - Apple Support
