i bought a thunderbolt 3 to transfer data from my old mac to my new macbook pro but i need an adapter for the 2014 macbook

What type of adapter do i need to transfer data to new macbook pro using a thunderbolt 3 - need to plug into macbook pro 2014

You’d need a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter. Luckily Apple sells such an adapter—plus you’d need a Thunderbolt 2 cable… which Apple may sell… along with Amazon and OWC ( macsales.com) … hope this helps you
