Files/Folders disappear from desktop and desktop folder when connected to External Monitor
I have a new MacBook Pro running Monterey and I have noticed this strange behavior.
I have files and folders on the desktop. When I plug into an external monitor, those files/folders disappear. They are not visible on the desktop and when I look in the desktop folder within finder, the folder is empty. If I use spotlight to search for one of the files, the file is there and it shows that it is located in the "desktop" folder, but when I try to locate it in the desktop folder, nothing is visible.
When I disconnect the external monitor, the files/folders immediately appear.
I have two locations where I use external monitors -- at work and at home. They are different setups and it happens at both locations. One uses a docking station and is a Samsung monitor. One is a dell monitor and plugs directly into the laptop. It happens in both locations.
Any thoughts?
