Can’t sign to Message and it’s is all greyed out in preferences, what can I do?

In the Messages app on your Mac, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Sign In.

Did you sign into your apple id on the mac? And is it also signed into your iphone/ipad that you're trying to sync the messages with?

> System Preferences > Apple ID

on iPhone/iPad

Settings > Sign in to your iPhone/iPad (at the very top)

Done all that and have been working with apple advisors on and off for weeks still not working
