Windows iCloud app not signing in after adding an iMac

Having a very strange issue.

I've been using the Windows iCloud utility for years to sync my iCloud email, calendars, contact with Outlook, and files and phones with Windows 11.

My wife just got a new M1 iMac and we both added our iCloud accounts to it. Since I added my account to the iMac, iCloud will not sign in on Windows and displays the error:

It does accept my AppleId and password, and prompts for the 2FA code which does succeed. I've tried removing the PC from my Apple ID, uninstalling iCloud app and reinstalling. Based on the message, it seems to think I'm signing in from the iMac. I also have a MacBook air under my Apple ID and there's no issue with that.

I also tried removing my account from the iMac, but the issue persists.

Hello there, pmaria,

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities. It looks like you are having an issue with iCloud for Windows, as an error preventing you from signing in advises the identify the Mac cannot be verified. We are happy to help!

Based on what you've described, we would recommend restarting all devices you are signed into your Apple ID on, then trying to sign in on the Windows PC again.

If the issue persists, disable any third party security software you may be running on the computer and try again.

Should you still receive this error, please get in touch with Apple Support directly. You can do that here: Get Support.

Have a great weekend.
