hyperlink feature not working in pages

I have Pages 11.2. I cannot create a hyperlink. In the format drop down I cannot select it for any of the options

MacBook Pro 13″, OS X 10.11

Have the body text preselected that you wish to add a hyperlink to before you press cmd+K or Format menu > Add LInk.
