Cannot press Install with keyboard on OS X Installer

Hi Everyone,

I’m trying to hard reset my iMac only using keyboard, at the last step it seems I cannot figure how to press the INSTALL button on this page. I tried pressing all buttons and combinations, doesn’t work. Any ideas?

iMac 27″, 12.1

Hi Zapa_92

In a normally functioning Mac with a missing or broken mouse you can navigate around the various nodes on the active window by using the Tab key, the arrow keys, the space bar and the enter key.

This Apple Doc explains in greater detail:

The problem is that you are interfacing with the Mac at a very low level and I don’t know if these special keyboard shortcuts and commands are all functional in this recovery mode.

If the above is of no help then try and borrow any standard USB mouse from a Windows or Mac and they will work, your Logitech is a bit different because they use customisable drivers with non-standard functions, which is why it won’t work for you now, but virtually any other working mouse should get you by this road block.

Will.

Is this a wired Logitech mouse? I use Logitech mouses and have never had that problem.Just in case ,you could try aNvram reset. Mac startup key combinations - Apple Support Or also SMC reset. To do that you shut down the iMac unplug the power cord for 15 minutes then plug it back in wait 5 minutes and restart. Is you mouse plugged into the USB ports on the back of the iMac? If I remember right there are three. Just in case one is not working as it should.

Did you click on the Mac . HD , square first. ? Then press on the install button. Now, if that doesn’t work, I had this problem a couple of months ago and had to switch Wi-Fi connections temporarily _ the hotspot on my phone and then back to the house hold Wi-Fi . My hotspot was slowww to make the connection. It worked. I did get this from another thread, After three days of frustration and reading.
