After recently updating my MacBook Air, I’ve noticed that instead of asking for a password, I’m asked for a pin. The only way I can avoid putting in this pin, which I don’t know, is to switch to the other guest user and then back to mine. Anyone having this problem? My fiancé is dealing with the same thing after updating his older MacBook Air.

Please take a look at this article: If your Mac doesn't start up all the way. Check the section that says: “System lock PIN code”.
