Sounds like Safari is set to automatically use Reader on your Mac, is that right? Have you checked the settings to confirm it is turned off? You can go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Website > Reader, at the bottom you should see "When visiting other websites" be sure that is "off". You can also remove any website that are listed here that you do not want to automatically use Reader for.

Although you selected Mac as the product, you mentioned your phone. If you're experiencing this issue with your iPhone, clear the history, cache, and cookies from Safari on your iPhone: Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Then, test the issue again.
