I need to replace my old Wd MyCloud to one running Wd OS 5. Wd say the current MYCloud only supports up to Mac OS 10.
Does anyone have advice or ice or relevant experience they could pass on?
Thank you.

It appears you can use your old device locally only after Apr 22
Customers with legacy, My Cloud OS 3-compatible devices
On April 15, 2022, support for prior generations of My Cloud OS, including My Cloud OS 3, will end. There are critical security updates that are only available for My Cloud OS 5-compatible devices. If your device isn't compatible with My Cloud OS 5, you'll only be able to access it locally. After April 15, 2022, your device will no longer receive remote access, security updates, or technical support. To help protect your content, we recommend that you immediately back up your device, disable remote access, disconnect it from the internet, and then protect it with a strong, unique password.
To help make this easier on you, we’ve sent a 20% discount coupon1 to customers who own devices that aren’t compatible with My Cloud OS 5. We sent the coupon through email on January 15, 2022. You don’t need to return your current device to take advantage of the offer, and the code will be good for 90 days.

Per page 13 of the MyCloud Home manual states:
Sync Desktop Content
You can sync content from a Windows or macOS / OS X system to a My Cloud
Home device with the Desktop Sync feature. This is a folder sync.
Thanks Illaass,
I’ve had those emails from WD. I’m now trying to find a new personal cloud that will sync between my iMac running the current Mac OS and my laptop.
From what I can see WD no longer have WD sync software, nor support Mac OS above 11 (Big Sur). I’m mainly looking at MyCloud Home.
Cheers,
Rob
Thanks again Illaass.
Having looked through as much as I can it seems that the MyCloud Home with OS 5 does not come with any sync software to sync files on computers on my home network. To do that I would have to use third party software, is that correct?
Best wishes,
Rob
Thanks again Illaass!
I think that’s answered all my questions.
Very best wishes,
Rob
