Upgrades and 32 bit software

I'm ready to upgrade from 10.9.5 to 10.12 Sierra and have been warned about what happens to your software, specifically 32 bit software, when you upgrade how do I determine what bit software I have and its potential for it not being available? Many thanks for helping a novice understand it all!

You can disregard notices about 32-bit software; they only apply when upgrading to Catalina or newer. To check for other incompatible applications, click here.
