Safari using "Significant Energy"

Even when only one tab is opened on Safari browser, Safari shows as “Using Significant Energy”. I am not watching any video on the tab and this occurs even when the Google homepage is the only one page/tab open. Is this something to be concerned about? Not sure if this is normal?

Hi there rohith777,

Great question! We'd like to help answer it as best we can.

When we load websites on our own Mac within Safari, we also see this message. It is normal, and of no concern.

We use it as a guideline on which websites may be using more energy than another, in conjunction with how much battery charge we have in our Mac.

If you'd like to submit feedback to Apple about this, you can do so using this link: Product Feedback

Cheers!
