iOS 15.2 mail fails to load content (error)

Error: your network settings prevent content from loading privately (load content)

Cannot find a find a definitive answer to this, though there are countless questions about it

Seems to apply to mail accounts from iCloud, Gmail, my own server

Can anyone explain what these ‘network settings’ are and how to return to previous behaviour? Email should load content as it always has done previously

This happens via Wi-Fi and data I do not have a VPN

Thanks

iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 15

iancreative,

Thanks for trying that. Take a look at a few other settings that can affect this. Is the date and time correct on your device? You can go to Settings > General > Date & Time and confirm "Set Automatically" is turned on.

Are you using any third-party security software? Check out the steps in this article that can help troubleshoot a bit more: Check VPN (Virtual Private Network) and third-party software to help resolve network connectivity issues.

You can also try resetting the network settings by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

If this continues, you may want to reach out to Apple Support for further assistance. Depending on your region, you may be able to reach out to them here: Get Support.

Hope that helps!

Hi iancreative,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities! From our understanding, your iPhone is currently running iOS 15.2 and it is having trouble loading content in the Mail app, is that right? To start, your device should be updated to the latest iOS (which is currently iOS 15.3) to see if this continues.

If this continues, you can try the steps here: If you can't receive email on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Hope that helps!

Check in your cellular preferences to check if the mail app wasn’t accidentally toggled off for permission to use cellular when not connected to Wi-Fi. If that doesn’t work personally I wold shut off your blue tooth and Wi-Fi permission so it is only trying to connect with one connection available. Delete the mail account by signing out in the mail preference section. Restart device and sign back into mail. That would be my personal trouble shooting but maybe someone else has a suggestion

Thank you - one aspect that does change this, if I run a VPN (PureVPN - logging onto a U.K. server from Portugal) emails download as normal with content. But prior to approx one week ago this behaviour did not happen, content downloaded normally without a VPN as it should because I have a Wi-Fi connection or data roaming from my U.K. provider. Any further thoughts?

Thank you karina184 I have updated to 15.3 the same issue remains unresolved. What do you suggest next? This issue is well reported, it applies to all accounts in Mail app on iPhone and appears to have nothing to do with the actual 'network' i.e. if it is a wifi internet provider or mobile data provider. It has only happened within the last week. Any constructive suggestions welcome!
