Sceptre LED external monitor flicker solved

This is not so much a question, I just wanted to share a very specific solution to this issue in case others experience it.

Problem: Continuous flickering of display that is particularly visible with lighter backgrounds, and less visible with darker backgrounds.

Monitor: Sceptre E205W1600 20" 75Hz Ultra Thin LED Monitor HDMI VGA Builtin Speakers, Metallic Black (2018)

Computer: 2019 Macbook Pro 16-inch retina display (AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 4GB). The OSX version did not seem to matter as I experienced this across Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur and Monterey. The solution was found while running Monterey.

Solution: This fix was not in OSX but in the Sceptre onscreen settings changes. Select Picture and change the picture preset to ECO. I honestly don't know what it means but the configurations of this preset are:

Backlight: 30

Brightness: 50

Contrast: 50

DCR: OFF

Aspect Ratio: Full

Sharpness: 50 (although I increased this to the max, 100, without getting any flickering)

I cannot explain which of the above settings were critical to the solution. I found it difficult to get access to all of them individually, they seem to be tied to the presets.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.1
