When I select the Emoji icon on my Touch Bar it comes up with a black strip. How do I get all the emojis to show so I can select from my Touch Bar? Currently, the emoji keyboard is showing on the top menu bar, I would rather have it showing on the Touch Bar.
It has been like this for several months and is driving me nuts! Software is up to date and everything else works ok.
Any help appreciated.

Yours is not an isolated issue in these communities I have seen before with no known direct resolve—
you can file a bug report to draw attention to the issue, same as here:

You'll have to adjust the settings in System Preferences
>System Preferences>Keyboard>on the keyboard tab>change the setting Touchbar shows [] select the option App Controls from the drop down menu.

I'm assuming you've already tried unchecking Show Input menu in menu bar rebooting the machine and checking the box again?
I have mine working in Youtube and in Messages, so I'm not sure what apps you're using where it blacks it out.
Yes, I tried that, but I actually never even thought of trying different apps!! I only ever use emojis in notes when creating social media posts for my business, so I didn’t even consider it could be app related!
I am not on my MacBook at the moment, but I will try using emojis on different apps when I get home and see if it’s just notes that has the issue.
