Why am I seeing a gray message bubble under the green message icon in messages

We understand that on your iPhone 12 you’re seeing a gray bubble connected with notifications for message you’ve sent as SMS in the Messages app. 

Could you tell us a bit more about the bubble? You mentioned it was a notification, but typically you won’t receive a notification for messages you send. Are you seeing it in the Messages app, in Notification Center, on the Lock screen or somewhere else? Is the bubble blank or does it have text in it?
