I just received a new laptop. It has fingerprint access and that was working fine. For some reason yesterday when opened the lid it wanted my password. I can't remember it and I tried so many times that I am now locked out of my account. HELP

How can I reenter my new laptop that I am locked out of due to the fact that I forgot the password.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.1

Macs with TouchID will require you to enter a password at least once a week just like with an iPhone or iPad. There may be other times that a password may be required instead of using the TouchID, but that will be rare.
