Big Sur verses Monterey? What's the consensus?
I have a MacBook Air and wondered if other users out there are continuing to use Big Sur or updating to Monterey?

If there are new features in Monterey you wish to use, especially if you have an iPhone or iPad with the latest iOS, you should by all means upgrade.
Along with @John Galt's sage advice, before updating, check and make sure are you critical apps are compatible with Monterey and if not is there updates or upgrades available for them.

Provided you follow Apple's upgrade instructions there is no need for concern: Upgrade to macOS Monterey - Official Apple Support.
Learn how to back up is essential because it conveys the ability to "undo" the upgrade.
I've never regretted upgrading, but I check to see that my software and peripherals will work first.
No issue with either but I see little advantage of Monterey over Big Sur (IMHO) for my uses..
I am still running Big Sur on my M1 MacBook Air and feel no need to jump on the update wagon.
Thank you all for your helpful responses. I really appreciate your input
Yes thank you for the reminder about the backup so I can undo if necessary
