Ics files importing into calendar from iPhone

I’m trying to open an .ics file into Apple calendar when I receive one as an attachment in my email while using the iPhone. It opens it and shows me a preview of the appointment but then doesn’t allow

me to do anything with it that’s useful. The most basic thing is to add it to your calendar. I think at some point in the past this was a feature since I read old instructions online about being able to do this but not now. Is there a work around? Can this be fixed? I feel

like Apple needs to fix this. Before you ask- my phone is updated to the latest and greatest. Everything works normally.

You are right. Apple make this particularly difficult. The problem you have noted is that when you click on the .ics file it offers you various programs which could open the file, but Calendar is not there! WAKE UP APPLE, AND FIX THIS!

An obvious solution would seem to be to open the file in SAFARI, (Not Firefox or Google Chrome) and the simply click “Add to Calendar”. However good luck in finding a way to get Safari on an iPhone to find your downloaded .ics file. I could not figure out how to do that.

the only work around that I could find was to use Apple’s native “Mail” program to mail the .ics file to myself from where you can click add to calendar. Note, only the native Mail program, not google mail etc.

Are you able to edit/manage this calendar event by going into the Calendar app?

Does long pressing the event in preview mode help?

Does this occur with all calendar invites?
