i purchased an iphone 6 from goodwill a few months ago which is a store for donated good, and the phone was unlocked so i tried to factory reset it to wipe all the previous users info but i got hit with activation lock and now have no way to find and contact previous owner or unlock the phone and its been months.

If you can't reach the previous owner whose ID is on the device and have them remove the device from their account, the device is worthless. Apple won't unlock it for you.

i even tried to imei search for the previous owner or whatever and everything leads to a dead end, like if i tried to jail break it would it unlock or what.
I don't know what happens if you attempt to jail break he phone.
