iPad 9th Gen "True Tone" Setting Continuously Operates Despite Being OFF

On my iPadOS 15.3 iPad 9th Generation, the brightness automatically adapts based on ambient lighting, even when True Tone is toggled OFF.

  1. I thought it was an iPadOS 15.2 bug when I first noticed this happening, so I updated to iPadOS 15.3... The problem persisted.
  2. I restarted the iPad many times thinking that it could fix the problem. It did not.

Is there any solution to this? Because I find it quite annoying when I place my hand over the sensors and the brightness increases/decreases when I don't want it to.

Settings>Accessibility>Display&Text Size... then scroll down to the bottom. The last option (Auto-Brightness) should be disabled. When done, restart your iPad and test it.
