Have same problem mail with yahoo, working perfectly up to 3rd August 2010 now can send 'E'mails but not receive any. Have checked yahoo web and all 'E' mails received after 3rd August there, no problem. Have changed to yahoo.com, still cannot receive mail, so have changed back to yahoo.co.uk, no difference. Any ideas

+Re the last message+

A bit confusing - did you mean my post even though you replied to the OP?

If that is the case, did you read my post?

+It is only apple having problems+

I said: Yahoo basic does NOT allow forwarding emails to POP (Apple Mail via your ISP) accounts.

Just because you can access it via wifi - which has absolutely nothing to do with mail "forwarding" via a server and your ISP to your Mail application on your computer - does not mean you can also access it at home unless the source (Yahoo Mail) will allow it and is set up and configured to do it.

Apologies but do not have yahoo plus. However I have successfully used yahoo basic for over a year without any problems. Suddenly, I noticed I had not received any 'E' mails between 3rd and 5th August. I am able to successfully send 'E' mails via mail without problem. I have tested this by sending test 'E' mail from my mac and successfully appears on yahoo web mail. I cannot see any obvious omissions and as yahoo has been working successfully until a few days ago on my mac, i felt this was more to do with my mac and operating system than yahoo but am totally open to any advice/help. Many thanks

Sending an email is something totally different again - you can send yourself or anyone else an email to any email address.

You can also send or forward any email while on your Yahoo account to yourself or anyone else.

Setting up Yahoo to automatically forward emails to your home email address is something else. Here is an excerpt from Yahoo Help:

+The ability to access Yahoo! Mail using an email reader program such as Outlook, Eudora, or Thunderbird is only available to customers of our premium Yahoo! Mail Plus service. To determine whether you have purchased this service, please visit the My Services page.+

Although this does not mention Apple Mail, it functions exactly like Outlook, etc. so it will not work. Here is the link to the entire help page:

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/mailplus/pop/pop-35.html;_ylt=An EHIP08O6GRC7cEYzjbTbe7myN4

I have no idea why it might have worked for you previously, but according to Yahoo, it cannot be done unless you pay for the service.

So, unless I've totally misunderstood what you are trying to say, I do not have a different answer and it does not have anything to do with your Mac or OS.

I am having the same (or a similar problem). My last email is dated Aug 5th in my inbox, when clicking the 'Get Mail' button mail says there are incoming messages however none appear in my inbox. I can right click on my Yahoo Mail Inbox in mail and click 'Get Account Info' this will display all messages held on the server - it shows all my new emails and even shows them as un-read but for some reason it wont put them in my inbox.

I can log in to the web based Yahoo Mail and read the emails and when I check my emails on my iPhone they are picked up. For some reason mail just wont put them in my inbox.

I can send emails fine, I am also using the free version of Yahoo Mail and have been using it with mail for the last 3 years no problem.

The other thing is that I don't get the ! error as I am still connected to the Yahoo Mail server.

I just cant figure out what the problem is?

I've tried to deal with Yahoo before and it was somewhat frustrating; I've also found that the "first tier" responding usually just sends an automatic type of reply, so you may want to try again being extremely specific as to your question "thank you for your reply; however, that does address my specific question: does Yahoo Basic allow automated POP forwarding to an email reader client or do I need to pay for Yahoo Plus?"

I could be wrong, but I believe the forwarding feature in the Yahoo basic just means that you can manually forward messages. I tried clicking that button and there is no window popping up asking for information - if you want to set up automatic POP forwarding, you need to input your email (ISP) mail server info, etc. and there is no way to do this in basic.
