I filmed a clip with my iPhone, which is actually horizontal, but the clip is vertical. That means I only need to rotate it 90 degrees. Now, of course, I could do this in the Photos app and re-import the clip. However, I would like to know if I can simply rotate the clip in FCP and then automatically resize the clip. Use the Transform tool or the Transform controls in the inspector to reframe. If you have multiple clips that need adjustment you can copy a reframed one and Paste Attributes to the others.

Well this isn't exactly my Question...
When I start a recording on my iPhone vertically, the whole video is directed vertically. Even if I still turn the smartphone horizontally while filming. Now the movie should actually be horizontal. Now I could easily rotate the video in the photo app. But I did not do that here, but imported the vertical clip (which should actually be horizontal) into FCP. This is now the only vertical clip. If I now rotate it by 90 degrees, it is horizontal, but too small for the frame. So the size is not adjusted. Now I wanted to ask if there is a way to automatically resize the clip. So that the clip fills the whole picture.

So now in the second image the Video is horizontal but doesn't fit in the frame... and your recommendations worked not properly... they cropped way too much in. I only want, that it fits the frame.
No... you misunderstood me! Not the Viewer doesn't fit! The Clip itself is too small! The Viewer is on "Fit".
If you rotate a vertical Clip then its only like 50% of the viewer. So you have to resize it and make it bigger. (scale: roundabout 176%) But I would like to do it exactly... so FCP should do it, that the Clip is the right size.
What is the exact frame size of the clip? If it is 3840x2160, then it should fill the frame exactly.
If it is something else, like 4096x2160, the aspect ratio will not match your project exactly.
Incidentally, any specific reason to make that project in that nonstandard size, 2560x1440? It does have a 16:9 aspect ratio, but as far as I can tell, is not an usual size.

Yess... but the Problem: The Clip is 4K and the Timeline is 2K... so it crops too much in.

Yess... already answered that.... 4K Clip in 2K Timeline So it crops waay too much.
There is no other option if you want to fill the screen unless you use the distort function to squeeze the image. I’m really not sure how you expect to make this work.
