After Monterey update, three processes taking 98% CPU each

I just updated my Catalina iMac 5K to the latest Monterey. After booting up, I noticed the fan noise. I checked Activity Monitor and there are three processes that are taking 98% of the CPU each: AgentPackageMonitoring, XprotectService, syspolicyd. I've attached a screenshot.

Any fix for this bug?

Thanks!

" I just updated my Catalina iMac 5K " - and give it some time as in hours or a day to re-index all the changes. And the length of time may be more depending on the amount of Data is on the drive.

Especially with the jump from Catalina macOS 10.15 directly to Monterey macOS 12

Thank you for the reply. I ended up force quitting those processes in Activity Monitor. I will restart the Mac when I'm done working and just let it do it's thing for a while in the evening. I'll report back my findings to confirm it's just indexing versus another issue.

Thanks!

I restarted the iMac and let it sit for a long time, letting it index, etc. The fan isn't revving up anymore but I still have two processes that are taking 98% CPU each – XprotectService and syspolicyd. Anyone know if this is normal for OS X?

Thanks again for your time.

Thanks! I used that terminal command to find out that it was scanning some Sophos security software pkg files. I googled how to uninstall this unnecessary security software and those processes are now gone! Yay!

Thank you so much. You solved my problem. Have a great day.
