I have a iPad 7th generation and I’m thinking on getting a 20 watt charger to make it charge faster, I’m not sure how much faster it will charge, anyone know what’s the estimated amount to take to charge from 0-100 with 20 watt charger? Ex. 4 hours.

None of the base model iPads ( i.e. iPad 5th, 6th, 7th, 8tn OR 9th gen ) support fast charging via USB-C to Lightning using Apple's higher wattage charging/power adapters!

My wife's 8th gen iPad still takes over 4 hours to charge using an Apple 20W adapter with USB-C to Lightning cable.

The iPad7 does not support USB PD (Power Delivery) Fast Charging. The maximum supported charge rate is limited to ~12W (i.e., 2.4A @5V).
Whilst you can use a higher rated Power Adapter, your iPad will not charge any faster.
I tested it myself, and I got 3 hour and 45 minutes from 0-100
Here’s my results:
6:10am - 1%
10:04am - 100%
8th generation iPad gets you to 0-100 in 3 hours 45 minutes, with no (PD) charging, and same power, this iPad was bought in 2020 of march, when the iPad 7th gen was still being sold at Best Buy Apple, etc. in conclusion, 20 watt charger does give faster charging, but not as fast as other iPads, like iPad Pro which have (PD) charging. Apple wouldn’t have included a 20 watt charger with the 8th gen if it would not have any impact on charging. I’m charging this from 0-100 to grt most accurate results.
You clearly have a little project of your own… simply requiring that you obtain an Apple USB-C 20W Power Adapter and test for yourself. Either way, you’ll have a useful Power Adapter - and you’ll have your own definitive “proof” - which you can share with this Community.
And I also just was in. A chat with a Apple advisor who told me it will make my iPad charge faster

I'm on an iPad (5th generation) 15.3
I have a 20 watt charger … its very slow , mine is " Anker" brand , doubt that it makes much difference . Go to the Apple Store website Accessories ~ there you can view the cables & chargers recommended for your iPad model .
But I believe the iPad 7 does charge faster with a 20 watt as it has a big battery and is able to take in 20 watts of power, but I don’t know exactly how long. Do you know an exact amount of time from 0-100 with a 20 watt charger on iPad 7?
the iPad 7 and 8 have same watt power, no (PD), and no advantages in iPad 8 that give it faster charging, its the 20 watt charger, they included it since 5-6 hours with older charges was far too long and it helped a lot for sure.
Apple includes the same 20W ( used to be an 18W ) USB-D charge block across ALL iPad models now, to have ONLY one power/charge block to use with all the current iPad models.
Apple will supply the correct cable to use with that USB-C charge block.
Has NO bearing about faster charging ANY iPad, especially base model iPads.
Apple still sells the 12W power block for older iPad models that still can use these, but for the past few years, Apple has standardised the power/charging blocks for all iPad models and no longer sells these with iPhones to minimise waste if users already own a 12W, 18W or 20W or greater Apple power/charge blocks to charge their devices.
If your 7th gen iPad is, by some miracle, charging faster with that 20W power/charging adapter, then no one here is going to be able to confirm that.
My wife's 8th gen iPad charges to 100% in about 4-1/2 hours with the 20W adapter and a USB-C to Lightning cable.

Wattage Optimization:
Whatever wattage you purchase, if it has more than what is built in, you'll only make use of what is built in to it. So, don't expect any faster of a charge, if you get an adapter with higher wattage.
It says in the tech specs the iPad has a rechargeable 32.4 watt battery so that’s the built in watts. I can go all the way up to 30 watts but I’m only deciding to use 20 watts, so I think that means it will work.
dude I was just asking, plus i checked and iPad 8 gets to 0-100 in 3 hour and 45 mins with same power as iPad 7 and no power delivery, so I was right after all, the 20 watt charger does make a significant difference in charging time.
well, is there any proof? Like someone testing a 20 watt charger with the iPad 7th generation? I have a feeling it can get faster charging I would like someone to maybe test it and post a video.
