On my find my app, sometimes the blue dot just goes away

Create Restrictions:

If you want to disallow changes, then create these restrictions, as if it were a child's device. Perform the following...

1. Go here: Use Parental Controls on your Child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
2. Scroll to: Allow changes to privacy settings
3. As it Reads: "Share My Location: Lock the settings for location sharing in Messages and Find My Friends"

That may be an issue with a recent update not working properly. I’m thinking you may need to reset YOUR iPHONE to factory settings. But ask Apple Support. They'll run you through the fix.

• Why the Wait: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

This makes perfect sense. Because it is all based on an IP address. An it will not always be right on. If someone lives in an apartment complex, it might take a week for it to always show at their apartment. In the meantime, it might show up on the other end of the vicinity. Her device is her device (assuming it does not belong to you). So, ask her if you can create restrictions.
