Have my printer connected but want to scan from computer, has the scanner showing icon on Printers and Scanner ?

Whether it is a separate scanner or a multi-function device with a scanner, does Apple's Image Capture detect the scanner? What is the device in question, and do you have the vendor's current drivers for the specific operating system installed? Are you running macOS High Sierra (10.13.*) as your profile suggests, or a later operating system?
